Glinda Dames-Fincher has lived with sickle cell disease for over 5 decades. She has a healthy adult son with the trait. Glinda is a Bachelor degreed Medical Technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. She worked in clinical laboratory medicine for 26 years, and for 10 years as a Medical/Legal Analyst.
For more than 5 years, she has been the patient presented to the medical students at Case Western Reserve University Medical School and Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine for their blood disorders and pain management lectures, and assisted in their training on the psychosocial aspects of chronic illness. For 20 years Glinda has participated in sickle cell support groups, and been interviewed on local radio and TV talk shows concerning sickle cell disease.
Glinda’s goal is to continue to educate and advocate for sickle cell patients, because she strongly believes a patient’s knowledge of their illness empowers them and leads them to a better quality of life.
